Our Vision

THE SALVATION ARMY an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church.
Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in his name without discrimination.

  • Is an Evangelical Church, providing a Christian ministry in Guelph for more than 120 years.
  • Is the Community and Family Services, providing a variety of social programs and services to the community.
  • Is the Thrift Store, providing low-cost clothing and household items within the community.  The store is part of a group of stores managed by the National Recycling Organization of The Salvation Army with its head office in Toronto.
  • Is Correctional and Justice Services, providing support to those in court or correctional institutions and counseling to those in the justice system.

The Salvation Army Guelph, as part of the Christian church, exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet spiritual and human needs, and be a positive influence in our city.

In pursuing the accomplishment of our Mission and the fulfillment of our Vision, we will seek to embody the following eight Values:

  1. Celebration.  First and foremost, we exist for the glory of God.  We want to celebrate His Person, Presence and Provision. (Worship)
  2. Communion.  We want to be a people of vital relationship with the living God.  We will be a people of prayer and our church building will be a house of prayer. (Prayer and other spiritual disciplines)
  3. Community.  We belong to God and to each other.  We will share each other’s struggles and we will seek to build each other up. (Fellowship)
  4. Counsel.  The Word of God will be our supreme guide.  Where God has spoken, we cannot be silent.  Scriptures are to be read, explained, believed and obeyed. (Preaching/Teaching/Pastoral Ministries)
  5. Contributing.  God’s intention is that each member of His Church will be a willing servant and steward.  Time, talent and treasure will be gladly yielded for the extension of His Kingdom. (Every member a minister – stewardship and service)
  6. Christlikeness.  The Father has called us into fellowship with His Son so that through the enlivening, enlightening and enabling work of the Spirit, we may be transformed into the image of His Son. (Personal Holiness)
  7. Compassion.  To faithfully follow Christ is to share His compassion for a broken world.  Therefore, we will seek to minister gracefully in practical ways to those who are marginalized in our society. (Social Holiness/Community Service)
  8. Commitment.  We are a Kingdom people – God’s people.  We will respond positively to the challenge to “present ourselves as living sacrifices to God” for the salvation of the world.  We are a people under orders.  “As the Father has sent Me, so send I you” (John 20:21). (Evangelism/Missions)

To be a community of faith that thinks with the mind of Christ, loves with the heart of Christ, and serves with the hands of Christ.
